The Birmingham Zoo Education Department has many programs which you and your family can enjoy and learn about our great natural world. Space is limited and pre-registration and payment is necessary to ensure your spot. Please call 205.397.3864 for more information or to register. Registration is also available online. Please bring your membership card to get your member discount. All children must be covered by the Birmingham Zoo membership to get the discount.

Refund Policy:
Refund requests or class changes must be requested a minimum of 24 hours in advance of the class date. We will be unable to give any refunds or make any changes once the deadline has passed. A $5.00 processing fee will be retained for each refund request. No refunds will be given for package deals. All credit must be used within the current semester and may not be transferred to future semesters. Students will not be able to make up any classes missed. We are sorry, but we are unable to make any exceptions.

Package Deals: To get the package deal discount, you must purchase the class “package” for your class. Classes purchased individually are ineligible for the package discount. No refunds will be given for package deals. For classes that are offered on multiple days, when registering online for package deals, you can reply to your confirmation email to select the days of the classes you would like to attend. Due to scheduling conflicts, some classes are not offered every week so you may switch between days. To make things easier, you can also list your choices in the box for special needs.

Babes in the Zoo

This class is for children 6 months to 2 years of age. This is a fun class to introduce children to the experience and wonder of animals in a safe environment. Appropriate live animals and Biofacts will be used. All animals listed subject to change.
A parent/caregiver must stay with their student.

Tuesdays 10:00 -10:30 or 11:00 -11:30 or 1:30 - 2:00 or Wednesdays 10:00 -10:30 or 11:00 -11:30

Baby Sign Language

This class is for children 6 months to 2 years of age. This is a fun, exciting, 30-minute class where you and your child learn simple signs for communication and animals. Time will be spent in the classroom learning new signs each week.
A parent/caregiver must stay with their student.

For children 2 and 3 years old. It is a fun, intermediate class that introduces children to animals and the zoo in a classroom environment. Time will be spent in the classroom and in the Zoo. Live animals and Biofacts will be used. A parent/caregiver must stay with their student.

These fun, 1 hour long classes are for children ages 3, 4, and 5 years old. Each class covers different animal topics and may include crafts, games, stories, songs, and information about the animal. Live animals, Biofacts, and a tour to learn more about the animals may be included. Parents are not required to stay with their children for this class.

Tiger Tales

This 2 hour long class is for children ages 3, 4 and 5 years old (and are potty trained) who want to stay a little longer at the Zoo. In each class students will explore different animal topics, listen to a story, make a craft, go on a train or carousel ride, and do fun activities. Live animals and Biofacts will be used. Parents may not stay with their children for this class.

Class time: Friday 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Cost: $17.00/student/class for members or $21.00/student/class for non-members

Tiger Tales Fall 2008 Class Schedule:

These art classes are designed for children 4 & 5 years old. Children will be introduced to basic drawing and painting skills and be given the chance to express themselves creatively. They will look at live animals in the classroom or on exhibit, and create images of these animals. Parents may not stay with their children for this class.

Class Time: Tuesday 1:30 pm - 3 pm
Cost: $15.00/student/class for members or $19.00/student/class for non-members
