
The Birmingham Zoo has many camps for your child to enjoy during school breaks this year from 9 am to 3 pm with pre-and post-care for those that might need it! While attending School Break Camps, your child will experience:

Camp Hours & Costs:
9AM - 3PM
$50.00 per student per day for members
Lunch:
Lunch is $6 per camper per camp day and consists of either a hotdog or hamburger lunch with chips and a drink. We have a refrigerator for those that would like to bring their lunch instead of buying lunch.
Please bring your membership card to get your member discount. All children must be covered by the Birmingham Zoo membership to get the discount. Not a Zoo member? Join today to receive UNLIMITED admission for an entire year plus benefits such as camp discounts!
Before and After Camp Care
We have heard the call of parents for early and late drop-offs. If you are in need for your child to join us early or to stay with us after camp, please let us know as space is limited. Before care times: 7:30 am to 9 am and Aftercare times: 3 pm to 5:30 pm. Before and Aftercare charges will occur for campers being dropped off before 8:45 am and picked up after 3:15 pm. A charge of $5 for every 10” a camper is not picked up started at 5:30 pm. All campers must be picked up by 6 pm.

Creepy Crawly Animals
October 13th (Monday) and/or October 24th (Friday)
Have you ever wondered how animals see where they are going at night or what bats do at night or during the day? This Day Camp will answer these questions and many more! Throughout the day campers will learn about creepy crawly animals, explore the zoo in search of nocturnal animals and make a craft. Campers will get to meet some of the zoo’s nocturnal animals at this fun and new camp.
Alabama Animals
Veterans Day
November 11th (Tuesday)
This camp will introduce children to animals that live in Alabama. Throughout the day, campers will tour the zoo learning about Alabama Animals, such as the Bald Eagle and Alligator, receive a special tour and make a craft. Campers will get to meet some of the zoo’s animals up close during this camp.
Animal Foods and Fun Facts
Thanksgiving November 24th, 25th, 26th
(Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday)
Campers will learn about what animals eat here at the zoo and other fun animal facts. We’ll have a tour of the Animal Nutrition Center where they prepare the food for over 700 of our Zoo animals. Campers will be able to see animals out in the zoo. Live animals and Biofacts will be used.
Winter Break Camps
December 19th, 20th, 22nd, 23rd, 29th, 30th,
January 2nd or 5th
Campers will spend the day exploring animals at the zoo. Activities, crafts and tours will teach campers about the animals that live in the zoo. Campers will get to an up close and personal encounter with some of the educational animals each day.

Animal Coverings for Winter
Martin Luther King, Jr. Day
January 19th (Monday)
Where do snakes go in the winter? What do some animals do during the cold winter months? The Animal Coverings Day Camp will answer these questions and many more! Throughout the day, campers will learn about how animals protect themselves in the winter, explore the zoo, and make a craft. Live animals and Biofacts will be used.
President’s Day Camp
President’s Day
February 16th (Monday)
Campers will explore the world through the animals that live there. They will be part of the zoo animal electoral process and learn about our Presidential and Vice-Presidential Candidates. Campers will be able to visit the exhibits of each of the candidates and learn about their platforms and then be able to vote for the candidates of their choice. Throughout the day, campers will explore the zoo, make a craft, and participate in a tour.
Spring Break Camp
March 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, or 20th
April 16th or 17th
Each day campers will learn about different animals and topics. There will be fun activities, crafts, and tours everyday. Campers will meet and see some of our animals up close during camp each day.

Refunds or Transfers
If you need to cancel or transfer to another session, call or email the Education Department as soon as possible. A refund minus a $10 processing fee will be issued if the request is at least 72 hours before the campers session. When possible, we will transfer a camper to another session, although transfer requests cannot be guaranteed.
